Wake Stone Athletic Park Now Open
Facility currently hosts 5 soccer fields, with more fields planned
The Town of Knightdale, in partnership with Wake Stone Corporation, North Carolina Football Club Youth (NCFC Youth) and Wake County, has opened the Wake Stone Athletic Park! This amazing facility currently hosts 5 soccer fields, with more fields planned in future phases. In total, over 90 acres were donated to the Town of Knightdale by Wake Stone Corporation, for this new amenity.
Wake County Board of Commissioners awarded the Town of Knightdale a $1 million grant for the development of the athletic park on May 21, 2018. The proceeds from the Hospitality Tax Small Projects Capital Grant were utilized in the construction of the initial phase of the project, located at the intersection of Forestville and Old Crews Roads.
NCFC Youth will be managing and maintaining the park to ensure the fields meet the requirements for official soccer play. Their partnership is integral to making the park and NCFC Youth successful in their mission, "To provide positive, high quality soccer opportunities at all levels of play for youth and their families and to serve as a valuable community partner."
The Wake Stone Athletic Park serves as an economic driver that will better our Town and the eastern Wake community as a whole!
